If someone had called me a Tegestologist when I was younger I would have probably punched them, however little did I know it but the habit I had of collecting beermats from the pubs I visited did indeed make me a Tegestologist !!
Tegestology is of course the true term for beermat collecting and is used for those of us who have a fascination with these little bits of cards and cant help ourselves from picking them up, to me though it was just beermat collecting but Tegestology is the true definition of the habit my mates found so annoying. The reason it used to drive them mad was because we would have no sooner got settled in a pub than I would be pestering them to move onto the next one ........ having spent five minutes wandering around picking up any beermat variations I could find in that particular pub.
Of course as with most things I ended up growing out of the habit and it wasnt until a good clear out of my mams attic a few months ago that I came across a couple of big box fulls of beermats that had been stuffed up there when I moved out. This discovery resulted in me going through another quick phase of collecting them when I went out and I even bought a few off Ebay and at boot sales, however my partner has decided that she is going to put her foot down and make me get rid before they take up any more space.
Rather than just throw them out though I've persuaded her to let me sell them on Ebay, this site is built with that aim in mind as I can direct people to it and see my beermats first rather than the thousands of other beermats that are on sale up on Ebay !!
The way the site works is some of my beermat collection can be found on "My Beermats" page, these are currently up on Ebay but if theres any there you fancy just let me know and we can see if we can work something out directly, failing that of course you could always just bid on them in the normal way by simply clicking on them and following the link to Ebay. I do have hundreds more to put up though so please dont think thats all I've got for sale, obviously its pretty time consuming listing all these beermats so if theres any in particular your after just drop me a mail and I'll see if I can help you.
As a further aid to any beermat collectors visiting the site I have also added an Ebay search tool to help you hunt out any beermats on your wanted list, simply enter the name of the beermat your after and see if its there !!
